Mingle Cafe (Leaf & Co)

Recently during weekend have a lot people like to go Jalan Sultan (Petaling Street Area)  to have brunch or coffee. Me and my best friend also come can join the trend also . This weekend we visit Mingle Cafe (Leaf & Co ) .

Mingle Cafe which shares the same building with mingle hotels, is located at one of the corner shop house at Jalan Sultan .



The environment quite relax and they used different type of furniture , like kopitaim round chairs,restructured sewing machine, Chinese armchair and etc.

Chicken Varuval

Chicken Varuval is a very popular dish in the Indian Restaurant and also one of my favorite foods when ordered banana leaf at the Indian restaurant.


Let’s try to cook it and serve for my special guess tonight. That’s also one my first time cook the Indian food. Hope will success and delicious.

Ingredient:
- 2 Boneless Chicken Drumsticks (Remove the skin as well or you can use others part of chicken)
- 5 Dried Chilies (Cut into half, remove the seeds and soak into water about 10 to 15min)
- 2 Sprig Curry Leave
- 2 Shallot (Slice thinly)
- 3 Cloves Garlic (Finely Chop)
- 2 Tbsp Chili Powder
- 3 Cardamom Pod
- 2” Cinnamon Stick
- 1 Tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 1 Tsp Sugar
- Pinch of Salt

Marinate:
- 1 Tbsp Grated Ginger
- 2 Cloves Garlic (Finely Chop)
- 1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 Tbsp Meat Curry Powder
- ½ Tsp Coriander Powder
- 1 Tsp Cumin Powder
- ½ Tsp Pepper
- 1 Tsp Salt

Instruction:
- Clean the chicken and remove the skin and cut in small cube size. Combined all the marinate 
   ingredient and mix well then put in fridge to marinate 4 to 6 hour or overnight.
- Heat up some oil with medium heat and start fried the chicken until golden colour then removes 
   from pan and put aside.
- Heat another pan with small amount oil. Add in the Shallot and the garlic, stir fry until light brown 
   then add in Curry leave, dried chili, cardamom pod and cinnamon stick.
- Add in the meat curry powder, salt and sugar keep stir fried.
- Add in the chicken stir fried together until the chicken coated with all the aromatic. 
  (If too dry can add in small amount water and keep stir well)
- Then can be served with rice or the bread, Chapatti or flat bread.

Kerala Potato Curry

Tonight i feel want to have Chapati at home, then have to think about what side dish have to match. I get a simple way to make the side dish that Kerala Potato.

Kerala Potato Curry is a side dish for matching Chapati or Poori. It also can be a vegetable dish match with the rice. 

Let's start to make it. 

Ingredient:
- 2 Potato (Boiled , peeled and cut in small cube)
- 1 Shallot (Slice)
- 4 Cloves Garlic (Slice)
- 3 to 4 Green Chili
- 1 small piece ginger
- 1/2 tbsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
- 1/4 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1/4 tsp Pepper Powder
- 2  Glass Water
- 1 piece small tomato
- 1/2 tbsp Mustard Seed
- 2 pinched cumin Seed
- Pinch salt

Instruction :
- Heat the pan with medium heat, add in mustard seed and let it splutter
- Add in Cumin Seed, Slice shallot, crushed ginger, slice garlic and green chili . Then stir fried nicely.
- When the shallot turn to light brow, add in turmeric powder, coriander powder , red chili powder 
  and pepper powder
- Mix well until the aroma smell come out, add in tomato and salt ,keep stir
- Add in cube potato and water, let it boiled.
- Boiled until gravy be thickens, then can be served.

VCR - KL

VCR located at heart of KL city, it also close to Pudu old jail . Surrounding here quite nice and have a lot old building convert to the similar type cafe or restaurant.

By the time we were here,already full house. We have to wait about 15min to 20 min to get a table.  At the entrance side, we can get a sit and chit chat there while waiting the table.


We been arrange at upstairs floor , but the sit was not suitable for eating. We changed to outdoor with smoking area. Actually outdoor side quite okay, can enjoy the sunny day feel .  
We order one "Soft Shell Crab Burger" and "VCR Breakie" for sharing and 2 coffee.

Batu Cave - Rainbow Staircase

Quite some time we didn't been to Batu Caves. The cave is one of the most popular Tamil shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan.

At this mid year, Batu Caves be a new sporting place for the tourists. The whole temple reprinted with a myriad of colours. It really attraction and nice. 

All 272 steps of the staircase been printed and the surrounding of the temple also been printed as well. 
From the entrance to the hill, all also been reprinted. The timing we heading there, just crossover their festival celebration. It so happening and crowed .
In addition to majestic golden statue of Lord Murugan, the main facade of the religious landmark is now a gorgeous spread of colorful hues.





                    




It really look awesome when taking photo here. Due to too much people, we also didn't climb the 272 steps staircase. We just at the beginning point take some photo.

Broccoli Soup & Grilled Salmon

Moody plus lonely day. Make a one portion western food for dinner. Let's start to cook now.

Broccoli Soup
Ingredient :
- Broccoli
- 1/2 pcs Potato
- 1/2 pcs Onion
- 1 pcs Celery
- 1 pcs bay leave
- Whipping Cream

Instruction :
- Cut the potato in cube size and boil together with water.
- Slice the onion and celery then fry it until onion turn to light yellow.
- Then add them into the potato boiling water and add in 1 pcs bay leave.
- Keep boiling under the potato soft then add in the broccoli boil another 2 to 3 min.
- Remove the soup into blender or you can use hand blender to blend to soup. 
  ( Remember take out the bay leave before you blend the soup)
- Blend until it smooth then put back to pot add some salt and pepper for tasty and also the whipping
  cream and can be serve.
- Serving time you can use the whipping cream make some drawing on top of the soup. 

Grilled Salmon
Ingredient :
- Salmon
- Snapea
- Carrot
- Tomato
- Salt , pepper & Garlic powder for seasoning

Instruction :
- Use the kitchen tower absorb out some water from the salmon
- Season it with salt, pepper and garlic powder
- Boil some water to cook the snapea and carrot.
- Start fried the carrot, snapea and the tomato and seasoning with salt and pepper
- Start to grill the salmon until cooked.
- Then can be served.

Braised Stuffed Bean Curd (红烧酿豆腐)

Braised Stuffed Bean Curd (红烧酿豆腐), really easy to make and the taste so delicious. Let's see what should prepared. 

Ingredient :
- Square Tofu
- Minced meat
- Flour
- 2 egg
- soy sauce
- Water
- Oyster Sauce
- Starch water

Marinate  the minded meat  :
- 1pcs White egg 
- 1tsp salt
- 1tsp starch
- 2tbsp soy sauce
- 1tsp oil

Instruction :
- Wash the tofu and slice by 4 per piece or by 6 per piece ( Depending how big slice you like)
- Start marinate the minced meat by using white egg, salt, soy sauce ,starch and oil , then mix it well
- Take 2 slide of Tofu and spread some minded meat on top of 1 tofu, then others one cover it .
  ( Just like sandwich , put the minded meat in between 2 tofu.)
- After all the tofu set up,prepared some flour and beat the eggs.
- Take the tofu apply some flour then apply the egg mixture also, then put in the pan for fried. 
- Fried all the tofu then can move them in others pot and arrange nicely.
- Add in Water (Cover half of the Tofu),then continues add soy sauce & oyster sauce and let it boil.
- Then add in the black soy sauce and keep boiling
- Add in the starch water ,boil until the sauce lesser little bit 
- Before serve and add some spring onion on top.

Hiking at Hutan Pendidikan Bukit Gasing

Long time didn't have outing activities with colleagues.Today we went to Bukit Gasing hiking. We fix out meet up point at the entrance around 7 morning. Before 7 morning me and my best friend already there waiting for the. We were thinking , may not much people during this time, but by the time waiting, we see a lot of people already started from the entrance point. 





Bukit Gasing located at Petaling Jaya and also a popular place for nearby residents to stretch legs and hiking around. It have many different route for people come for hiking.

We are first time coming here for hiking and we did a mistake, we didn't notice the route map at the entrance. We just following people, we only complete the 3km route only.





            










                         



               

               
Before we turn back to the entrance we take a rest at this area and we can see part of the Petaling Jaya view from this point .So we took some photo for memories. 





After return to entrance of course need to have a group photo. Just now there have one Photographic team taking photo at Bukit Gasing, after one of the member help us take the photo, we also join in their team to have a big group photo.
HAHAHA.....free photographer help us to take nice photo.

After hiking, really feel tired and hungry, We went to once of the famous and must check in restaurant to have our early brunch.

We have a set of Banana leaf and the sharing portion of the dish like Chicken, Mutton and Fish. Then we saw the next table the roti also very nice, we also order some. ( really a big eater team ) 

One of my Indian colleague , he recommended us to drink the brewed coffee with cow milk and madras tea. Both of them really nice.
