When you stay in Malaysia, you can try many type of
dessert. It also includes some different race of traditional dessert. In our Chinese Hakka race, there have a kuih
called Xi Ban. It’s little bit of sweet and presented with pink color. Of
course there also have some different color of Xi Ban and some also add in the
filling and make it tastier.
I found a recipe from “aiyuanfen” blog, it sound like
simple and easy to make. It also my first time made the traditional dessert.
Let’s prepare the ingredient as following
- 1¼ cup Plain Flour
- 1 cup glutinous rice flour
- ½ cup sugar (if you like sweet, you can put more little
bit )
- 1tsp instant yeast
- 200ml water
- 1/8 tsp Red coloring
- 1 tbsp corn oil
Instruction:
- Mix the plain flour, glutinous rice flour, sugar and
yeast together.
- Add the red coloring into the water and stir well.
- Slowly add in the red color water to the flour mixture
and roll it become dough.
- Add in the corn oil to the dough and keep rolling until
the dough smooth.
- After the dough get ready, not need wait for raise.
- Divided the dough in the size about 30g, and roll it as
round and use the finger round the dough in a
rounded manner.
- Put it on the baking paper or the banana leaf and wait it
raises about 30 min.
- After use finger to test the dough already raise enough
or not.
- Put the water for boiling, after water boiling can put
the Xi Ban to steam about 12 min.
